On A Clear Day You See Santa Cruz
On the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) campus, development projects repeatedly cut into virgin forest rather than expand into open areas because then the town of Santa Cruz would see new parking lots and buildings—and complain.

These brave tree lovers embraced the big-tree-on-campus known as “Tree 9”, a towering, climbable Douglas Fir; they put their bodies and their hearts on the line for forest preservation.
