Dozens of courageous forest fans showed their devotion to Strawberry Rock and the surrounding Trinidad Forestin Trinidad (Humboldt County), CA, pictured here, on April 27, 2013.A community effort is underway to preserve and restore as much of this redwood second-growth forest as possible — all its old-growth has long since been logged. But its current land steward, Green Diamond timber company, wants to make additional clearcuts.
Daring nature lovers gathered to make these images to draw attention to the issues and highlight the importance of preserving precious woodlands which do so much for us (oxygen production, carbon sequestration, wildlife habitat, cooling the earth, filtering ground water, and on and on and on).
This is just one of a series of four images — “In The Land of the Ancients” 1, 2, 3 & 4 — made from the air. See all 4 photographs, and more, on the Strawberry Rock event page.
