A War on Nature: assaulting the wild out of fear, ignorance, and arrogance
VIDEO: What is “mastication?”
This video gives a critical (snarky), cut-through-the-BS view of a California State Parks video promoting “mastication;” the alarmingly widespread use of tree-and-plant-shredding industrial masticating machines (aka by the euphemism, “mulcher”) in wild forests and wildlands.
The original Cal Parks video was made to show & tell & sell the public on assaulting wild nature — which paid for this propaganda production — all the, uh, marvelous benefits of shredding literally hundreds of thousands of acres of wild plants and trees in forests and other wildlands. And chainsawing down tens of thousands of trees in the western U.S. This destruction of wild nature is sold to the public with gentle-sounding euphemism, like “mulching” and “thinning” and “opening up” and “making park-like” and “treating” and “managing” and “restoration” and “fuels reduction” and “wildfire mitigation” and even with the most eyebrow-raising Orwellian Newspeak of all, “forest health initiatives.”
The list of euphemisms for “cutting down forests” goes on and on, until there will be no wild forests that have not been “managed” — with industrial machines that kill tree and shrubs — by humans wielding industrial masticators, chainsaws, chippers, and also thousands of gallons of toxic chemical herbicides (not depicted in this video). The chemicals are sprayed into wild places where wild animals of all kinds live in peace are roam — and will then be poisoned by mankind, to “heal” the land, or make it more “wildfire resilient.”
This ‘enhanced’ video teaches people what an industrial “masticator” really is. And what today’s de-forestry agencies say they are doing with them, and what these plant-killing machines actually do. Which is rapidly destroying what few dense, natural forests have so far escaped the assault of the timber and “biofuels” industries… but not for much longer considering the terrifying rate at which these attacks are ramping up.

All it takes is one powerful, emotional trigger word — WILDFIRE — to scare the public into letting these agencies destroy the wild, which only furthers heat the climate by massively reducing carbon-sequestering, shade-producing, oxygen-producing trees and plants.
